Stock Markets Exposed

Who is the best online broker for me....?

Amount: $10k-$20k Type: IRA accounts Investment Strategy: Stock and Fund trading I am currently with Fidelity. The no-cost IRA thing is good as well as a large collection of no fee mutual funds, but I am paying rediculously high fees for every stock purchase. ($19.95 to buy, and another $19.95 to sell). I am looking for something with no maintenance fees IRAs, low equity trade fees, and possibly no fee mutual funds (in their fund family). Any ideas?

  1. Take a look at Scottrade. 7.00 trades. I have been with them about 5 years and have no complaints.
  2. I am about to join Scott Trade, visit their web sites and find out the deals they have.
  3. Check this out: http://www.fool.com/dbc/dbc.htm?source=LN (comparison of 4 brokers), as well as Scottrade. My opinion is Scottrade is #1 for absolute lowest cost, but TD Ameritrade has a much better selection of mutual funds.
  4. I agree with them all. You can't beat Scottrade. Plus there is no opening, closing or custodial fees for IRA accounts with Scottrade. I moved my Roth from Amerprise a year ago because I had the same issue you did with the $19.95 to sell and then another $4.95 processing fee. Amerprise charged me $75 to transfer my account over to Scottrade, but I have made up the difference. Scottrade does not charge you to purchase mutual funds or bonds and that is a big thing for me with retirement money. They charge you $7 for stock trades. I have been extremely happy with them over this past year!
  5. Zecco.
