  1. A number of well-known, reliable brokerage firms permit you to trade securities on line. typically, they do not provide advice or other services. They simply accept your orders and execute them. Their commissions are generally lower than full-service firms. You may try E*Trade, (www.E*Trade.com) but they may not enable you to trade other than US stocks, although I am not sure if that is the case. Their commissions are low, such as $7-$8 per trade of up to 5,000 shares, and their web site is easy to use to trade stocks and stock options. Another firm that permits trading in most countries is Interactive Brokers (www.interactivebrokers.com). Applying for an account is time consuming and meeting their requirements can be onerous. Their on-line application consists of 18 pages and you have to provide a variety of documents to prove who you are. Their web site takes some time to learn to use. It is oriented more to sophisticated investors. Their commissions are very low, such as $1 per trade and ranging upward depending on the number of shares and the price per share.
  2. I'm American, but my wife is a Filipina, and we travel there at least once yearly, and I own two houses there -- one in the Manila area, and one to the North on the Pacific Coast. I do not think you should buy stock there from a stock broker -- they do not have your interest at heart -- only to make money off of your trades. Instead find an on-line broker -- there are many in the US and in the UK who will do this for you via the Internet, and you do not need to trade in person.
