  1. go for internship or part time on a job so that way u can experience e different type of work without commit for long term. Find one you really like.
  2. Advertising or Public Relations. Advertising is good for people who are very creative. Public Relations if you are good at communicating and representing people.
  3. if you want to do something with stocks why did you major in marketing and not finance. i also have a marketing degree. i just applied to 40 diffrent companies and got 4 offers. apply alot and you will get a job.
  4. I did the same thing, i have my BS in marketing. Marketing is fun because i examine new products and rank them but it depends what marketing company you go to. but if you want to go for the money with a little more stress go for stocks and financial as a investment advisor or something. I once studied for my financial advisor license but i found out that it wasn't for me. it's up to you, just try everything then come back to what you like and proceed with it to the fullest. best luck to you.
  5. I hope you thrive on diversity, because that's what the field of marketing has always offered me. Keep in mind that you can take a marketing career into a variety of directions, and the your employer might also give you a lot or very little flexibility to dabble in different areas. For example I've been in the tradeshow business (very logistical), and I've also been a marketing strategy guy (very hypothetical). I've been in Communications (very creative/left-brain), and I've been in Marketing Analysis (very right brain). Real world scenarios - Marketing within a non-profit organization is much different than with a large corporation; field marketing is much different from corporate marketing, product marketing is much different from brand marketing. My best advice would be... be open, be willing to learn, and be honest with yourself as you go along your path. Your first couple of jobs are NOT your career - and the most important thing about taking a job out of college (besides paying the bills!), is the learning opportunity for what you do/don't want your next job AFTER that to be. I did find that smaller companies offer a LOT more flexibility in job responsibilities than larger companies, and high-tech salaries are a lot better than non-profit (you wanted something lucrative). The small high-tech employer is also a pretty volatile employment & supervisory situation - but I always found it was the most fun. When you're part of a tight, energetic team and can see immediate results from your direct efforts, it's a total rush.
