- Knowledge (reading as much as I can). Goals Asset Allocation A "Plan" (when to get in, when to get out, prior to purchase). Stops Money Management (more important than picking the right stocks).... ie., not holding on to "losers". Trail Stops on "winners". Morningstar (for long term stock and Mutual Fund holdings). Listening to the "ShadowTrader" on ThinkOrSwim everyday. Avoiding: Fear, Greed and indicision. Knowledge of chart patterns.

- buy fundamental sound companies at a cheap price. buy low, sell high. buy mostly when the stock market is down. buy when the companies making 52 week lows outnumber the companies making 52 week highs, on all 3 exchanges (AMEX,NYSE,NASDQ)

- Yes. There is no secret: have an interest in the markets, study, work hard, develop a method, stick to it, and treat trading as you would any other business.
- Yes I have. I have also incurred losses from time to time, because that goes with the territory. Here is how I did it: Invested the same amount of money at regular intervals into no-load index mutual funds. (Automatic contributions through my employer and through Vanguard.) I set my asset allocation up to match my time horizon and then reblance once every 6 or 12 months. I do not alter my plan based on what is happening in the market. The key to building wealth over long periods of time is discipline. Focus on asset allocation and costs and you will triumph in the long run.
