Stock Markets Exposed

Enlighten me. Why dumping PetroChina stock helps Darfur?

I just sold 1/3 of my PetroChina stock today. But its becase that baby has gained a mere 600% since I bought it in '03 (?). Besides Warren Buffett is doing the same thing. But I really don't see how this can help the Darfur cause. Last time I checked, China has 1.3 Tribllion foreign researve!!! Yes, Trillion. Shouldn't we be more worried that they will dump US bond? And PetroChina is going to list itself in Shanghai in a few weeks and there is no shortage of buyers. Hong Kong mareket was up 10% in a week after China announced it would allowe its citizens to invest in Hong Kong market. Do they really need our money?

  1. Supposedly, it's because China isn't doing enough to help the Darfur situation so it's sort of a boycott but it won't really hurt China. You're on target about China (and Japan) supporting U.S. debt by buying the bonds. Congrats on holding the stock long enough for the great appreciation.
