What caused the stock market crash prior to the great depression?

2. As I recall, people overextended themselves so that when the stock market crashed and values dropped, they didn't have the money to cover themselves. Many people lost everything and people committed suicide because they couldn't face being poor. There were stories of people jumping out of buildings. Did you see Titanic? When they asked the old woman what had become of her previous suitor-the one that had given her the necklace-she said something about he had done ok until the stock market crash in 29 and then she had heard he had lost everything and jumped.
3. it was the same circumstances which cause market to collapse in 2000. three new inventions in short time were: car, radio and electricity.. new era: Internet, cell phone and home computer. every family wanted car and every family wanted radio every city wired for electricity and soon the market reach saturation, same as the computer, internet and cell phone, we all rushed to get them and at certain point it slow down after most of the people get them during that time and during the 90, a lot of people jump into the market and the profits were stagering , people used margin and borrow in hope to get rich. when the order slowed down the market collaps. it took till the second war till the market recovered.
