Why was the stock market crash the biggest cause of the great depression?

Im trying to write a paper about why was the stock market crash the biggest cause of the great depression but there isnt much about it.

  1. Everyone had put all of their savings in the stock market since it was an easy investment to make. So when the market crashed, everyone lost their life savings. They could no longer pay for their homes, which caused mass foreclosures. When there were foreclosed houses everywhere, who would want to buy a full priced one? So then the housing market crashed too. No one had enough money to shop, so corporations suffered. They had to let employees go to save money, so then you had huge unemployment rates. Once the Dust Bowl came in, the agriculture industry was wiped out. But it all started with the crash.
