Want to start a stock trading society in my university?
I want to start a society in my university dedicated to virtual stock trading. The idea of the society would be that students would trade stocks over a simulator, e.g. Investopedia and every couple of months a cash prize would be given to the highest performer. How should I go about doing this? Is it possible to use a simulator such as the one on Investopedia for this purpose? I would be grateful for any advice anyone can give me. Serious answers only please.

- Talk to the head of the finance department. They probably already do this, without the cash prizes. Some universities have simulated trading floors.
- yes you could do that BUT why not do the real thing ? with a group of friends giving the same amount each month then choosing which sectors / companies to buy into...
- You could try and contact a web developer to program it for you, but that is going to cost money.
- Yahoo finance will allow you to set up portfolios. No limit on the number. A central secretary needs to track the investment buys and sells. Everyone starts with the same amount. More interesting if that is large enough to allow more than a few stocks....100k is good. Each participant can make purchases, EOD is best because you can manage prices rather than having one guy say I got it at the low of the day and sold at the high of the day. Each meeting needs a topic. Stocks, calls, covered calls, moving averages, stochastics.... Leadership is required. Effort is required. It is a worthy endeavor...good luck.
