Is it hard to make money in the stock market? How does it work?
It seems to me that if you invest in a good company, such as yahoo, you'll get money. How does it work, what are the strategies, and is it that hard?

- you have a lot to learn about the stock market! you need to take classes in business and finance and start reading things like the wall street journal and other business magazines. everyone has their own opinion when it comes to strategies, and nobody can predict the future. but you need to read and learn in order to be good at it, it is that hard.
- The best strategy is long term investment. Buy stocks now and hold on to them for up to five years or more. Also it's best to have a diversified portfolio instead of putting all of your eggs in one basket. A lot of those who make millions are already wealthy, although if you pick the right bunch of stocks you could make plenty of money. For example, Apple was selling for $8 a share in the early 90s, today it's $120 a share. Same holds true for Radio Shack, when it first started it was a penny stock, sellling less than a dollar.
- Yes and no. Finding a good stock is tough, but it can make you a huge profit if you play your cards right. You're at an advantage because most stocks have lost a large amount, so if you find a good, relatively cheap stock, such as GE and Dow Chemical, you could see 300-500% profits in the long run. Of course, you could lose money, so don't buy some washed up remnant of the dot com-boom. It isn't hard at all to make a profit, and remember, you'll have successes and failures. It's all part of life, so don't kill yourself if you lose some cash. Have fun!
- When you are gambling with the casino they call the stock market you need to know what you are doing to win. Just like playing poker you have to have an edge. Most people lose on the stock market because it is not possible for all to win. Technical analysis is the way to go and when you can figure out how to use this, then you can create yourself a huge edge in the gambling game we call stock trading. Good luck
- I don't think it's hard to make money. If you study the financial statements of the company and do fundamental analysis or if you just notice the price trends...you can make money. Each day...there is always a low and high point and within that period say 1-3 weeks....if you get in at the period...you can earn quick money as it appreciates. For me, I started trading a few months ago. Right now, I am looking for short-term gain. I want to build up my capital base before I go for long-term. I invested 3k and I have made 2k already. - Making money in the stock market is not easy, but possible. Thnk about this, there are thousands of market analysts and instituional stock investors out there who live and dream stocks. This is your competition. You cannot expect to win in stock trading unless you are also willing to commit yourself to research and constant monitoring of your portfolio. In my opinion, the "set-it-and-forget-it" days of buy and hold for the longterm are over. The market is simply too volatile for this type of investment strategy. Despite the bad reputation day traders may have, adopting a strategy of moving in and out of stocks to maximize profit and reduce risk of loss, may be the wave of the future for most investors. In order to succeed in this market, you will therefore need assistance with stock research and alerts for good trade entries and exits. the market is just too big to analyze the thousands of trade opportunities out there by hand. The only solution to effective and profitable trading is to employ the artificial intelleigence of a stock trading robot. So far, the best I have found on the market is at: http://www.apps-resource.com
