  1. You need to check out a companies financial record. If they are in bad debt avoid them like the plague. If they are financially sound and it seems their stock has been drug down by paniced selling then buy as much as you can. Also check around and see what companies are possibly coming out with "new and improved" stuff. Finally see if they are involved in any kind of hostile bid action, someone trying to take over the company. Usually you can buy those stocks and they go up as the fight heats up. Right now I reccomend Johnson & Johnson and Visa.
  2. Realize that you are being asked to pick investments in a market that has undergone a severe decline, all stocks are suffering, and the market may take years to recover. That being said, because it is only a drill, try Life Technology Corp, listed on the Nasdaq Exchange. Symbol LIFE, and currently around $31/share. It is in the Medical sector, the strongest performing sector, right now, and this stock is doing better than the general market. No guarantee on future performance, but you may elevate your current standing, relative to what others may be picking. Cheers!
  3. It's very tough to pick winners right now. But if you want to see what other students are trading in their stock market games, visit the Popular Stocks page at HowTheMarketWorks (see link below). Good luck!
  4. You need to be patient, some stocks may do nothing for weeks then skyrocket. Here's a couple good stocks that should help you beat out your class, EGY and AMIN. These stocks may drop over the next week or two but if you are patient they will reverse quickly. Also try LTSC. Others that are making strong moves now, SGCP, VAPH.
