- Hi This is Ibrar, Investment Advisor from Chennai. As a beginner first of all do only one thing my dear friend. "JUST FORGET DAY TRADING" There are so many ways in the market to make money. But dont do day trading. Its not advisable for a beginner and dangerous too. Study the markets and learn the techniques. Do some paper trading first, and then start with real money. Refer some good books to improve ur knowledge. - Long term investments are short term investments that didn't work out.
- I would probably not start out day trading. Especially in a Roth IRA account. That is very dangerous. In fact, most brokerage firms won't allow day trading in a Roth IRA. You need to have margin in order to day trade effectively and IRS regulations won't allow margin in retirement accounts. Maybe you should start out with ETFs. They function like mutual funds, but trade like stocks. You should be able to get a pretty diversified portfolio with around $5000. Good luck.
- A good way to start out in investment analysis and portfolio management (which includes stock market transactions) would be to read a few good books on the subject. First, as you seem to be a beginner; it would be prudent to abstain from day trading. You may consider reading the following book as an introduction: Investing Made Simple by Anthony Loviscek You may also do a search at www.amazon.com or your prefered search engine to find a further selection of suitable books in this regard. Caution is advised at all times. - A lot of good answers here! The only thing I have left to recommend for a starting broker is scottrade.com. Its only 7 dollars a trade, no minimum, no fees other than 7 dollars a trade. so no inactivity fees like all the rest, buy the stock low now with scottrade and hold it and let it grow so you can make the big bucks. now with a service for example like etrade, you pay 50 bucks if you dont trade atleast 3 stock shares every 3 months. thats no good. So head over to scottrade.com and use this code for 3 free trades, great way to make a starting profit quick, Referall name : Jameson Feltes ReferALL Code: VGID0017 use it in the signup process Good luck! and if you have any questions or concerns send me an email at Jameson @ Tech-45.com i'll respond ASAP
