Is the whole idea of the stock market to make money, not invest?

Even at the expense of investors? How ethical is that?

  1. The object of a vacation is rest and relaxation but you still need transportation to get you there and back.
  2. I'm not sure there are any ethics when it comes to Wall Street investors. Just remember, they have the retirement of most Americans locked up in a 401k now. You can't touch your 401k money without severe penalties, but there are no penalties to short-sell or move money around for the average investor.

  4. There is risk involved which stock brokers have never had much use for advertising. The long term holders are supposed to do better, but you have day trader types that want to get rich quick. That leaves the stock market with a less than stellar record on financial stability and security.
  5. Investment = making money. Over long term they go up. Over short term some times they go up and some times down.
  6. Um...maybe you need to look up the word "invest" in the dictionary....
