  1. Try this book "Investments for Dummy's" my husband brought that book home and he said that it was really good. The book goes into detail about taxes, how to claim your own business etc. Good Luck
  2. "Getting Started in Stocks" is the best book I found for beginners. It has a ton of information and is easy to understand. I would suggest reading that before anything else.
  3. Beware - it sounds like you are interested in buying and selling stocks and timing the market. That is usualy a losers game. I suggest you learn proper investment principles. In a nutshell, if you invest in low-cost index funds and set up an asset allocation that matches your risk tolerance and is diversified, and you keep putting money away on a regular basis (say, 10% - 15% of your salary a year) and you are aware of tax ramifications, and LEAVE IT ALONE through up and down markets....then you should retire very well off.
