Stock Markets Exposed

What is the best company to invest in on the stock market right now?

This is for a project in my econ class. I am theoretically going to be investing $10,000 split into 3 seperate companies on the NASDAQ or NYSE. I want something fairly stable but with a good potential of going up (obviously). I am trying to make the most profit over the next three months-- there are extra credit points at stake! I'm just starting to learn about this stuff, so I need advice from someone with more substantial experience in this field. Thanks!

  1. I really don't have an answer, but I can tell you that within that timeframe you'll become more of a trader than an investor. Try focusing on a company that will do most of its business in the international environment or a technology company. Although theres a lot of smart money entering the international sector, there will still be opportunities in that market. Technology will be more difficult, however, there are a few gems out there. *But most importanly, you will have to actively manage your account with obvious levels to divest so that you can then allocate into other companies that have been left behind.*
  2. I would buy NWRE, ICE, and CMED or ERS. I have owned NWRE and ICE since December. Please let us know what you choose and how you do in 3 months. I'd be interested to know!
  3. I don't know three but i can say MTSX is a pretty good speculative stock. Look at what Taser (TASR) did the past few years then look at www.metalstorm.com PS. I don't hold any shares at the moment. I'm saving for a house :)
