  1. How much are you looking at investing? Berkshire is about 4200 a share and you cant buy partial shares. Look at a good blue chip or index based fund for long term. You can find specific mutual funds which will gauge their risk and all based on your anticipated retirement. You should contact a broker to get started, you really don't want to do something for your long term future by yourself if you do not know what you are doing. Again, how much you are looking to invest has a lot to do with it.
  2. There's no such thing as a long-term value stock. A stock may be a good value at the time you buy it, for a variety of reasons, but it won't remain a good value without growth. If you want value in your portfolio, as you should, for a long term play, what you want are some good value mutual funds. A good fund manager aggressively seeks out those stocks that are good values, but doesn't hold on to any of them too long. Right now, some of the financials look like extremely good values for the 1 to 2 year period, but maybe not for the next six months. You can be sure that value fund managers will be adding some of these to their mix, if they haven't already.
  3. Most libraries carry S&P's publication called Outlook. They have a few portfolios of 5 star rated stocks plus some model portfolios. You can get some ideas there.
  4. All I know from your list is NUCOR , I've been keeping tabs on NUE for 25+ years .,,,In my opinion Nucor is a Growth stock with good value, Nice dividend too!!
  5. Drug companies like Pfizer (PFE) are trading at historic lows. The dividend yield on PFE is over 6%. But keep in mind all the rhetoric being espoused by Hillary and Obama. They always speak of those nasty drug companies and nasty oil companies. The election of either could drive prices down even more.
  6. Dodge & Cox Stock Fund, Oakmark funds, Vanguard Value Index, Vanguard Windsor and Windsor II, T. Rowe Price Value Fund, t. Rowe Price Equity Income plus lots of others are value funds. For ideas, look up what stocks they hold with Yahoo Finance, msn.com, or many other financial web sites.
