What is your best advice on how to work around the shorting on the downtic rule? What method of trading do?
you recommend? Stocks are up.....and down. Is this simply trading that has to be done from now on? No long term investment from now on? src50 Long term trading is dead, unless the US government is willing to print and loan money to the markets indefinitely! Businesses will have to get their money from bonds and convertibility of bonds. Automation is eating away an average human's earning power, thus deflation is in the beginning stage of a steep drop! I think this is obvious, but I think the average investor cannot see this coming.

- Everyone with cash is looking for bargains (buy on down) .. those without cash are looking to sell on the up ... this is causing massive swings as a few extra buy or a few extra sell ..
- What you describe is more a phenomenum of day tradering not short sellers although the day trader may be selling short But will cover in the sam day There is no downtic rule
- Another reason why "trading" is a fool's errand for the average investor. Long term "investing" is the thing to do.
- You're living in the liberal world of academia. The market is a free trading system, it has worked for years and will continue to work as long as it remains a free trading market. There will alway be investors that make money and their will always be traders that make money. You can have all the theories you want, but this is a free market and traders/investors will always make it work.,
