Stock market News?
Hi I read yahoo finance, google finance, Bloomberg, Reuters business news every day and keep refreshing the page every 3 minute. Immediately after i see a good news about a company i go to their stocks to find out people already knew the news before it showed up in these sites and the stock has already went up. Can i know where do these people know about this kind of news before it show in the website? Thanks in advance for the help Nick

- Many times prices move quickly because of a recommendation by a stock brokerage, newsletter writer or a press release. There are thousands of sources of information. Your chances of being the first to learn are slim and none. You would be better off by first finding sectors that are in strong up trends and then finding stocks in those sectors that are in strong up trends.
- One thing to remember is that it does not take a lot of people to move the price of a stock. Remember the saying buy on the rumor, sell on the news. I stopped looking at the news a long time ago. I found it better to invest with your eyes and not with your hears. So I do chart reading. Look at a company that had good news. Normally you will see the chart inching up prior to that news. Is this insider trading...probably but it is impossible to police everything. Go to http://stockcharts.com/ to learn more about chart reading. John Murphy has several books on the topic.
- This is just one more reason why long-term investing is so much more suited to regular investors. An amateur trying to day-trade is at the mercy of people who will always have the news before they do. An amateur doing sensible long-term investing is at no such disadvantage. This is one of many reasons why it's easier and more certain to do well in the stock market if you have a long-term approach.
- There is a saying about investing Buy on Rumour....Sell on news!! Means by the time that news is published, the stock price will have moved to a level reflecting the news. Investing should be done for sound economic principles...not rumor or news.
