Income from investing in Stock Options? Are there any investors who invest in stock options that have created an extra income for themselves? There is a difference between INVESTING and Working for a Living (paycheck). I have been investing in LONG CALL optrions recently. Opened an account with a deep discount brokerage-only $5.00 per trade.. I found one stock-an ETF INDEX option that seems to be working in my favor. Since most foreig market INDEXES seem to move in an upward trend i feel comfortalbe with it. It is the iShares MSCDI CANADA ETF. I have bought and sold it 2 times at a profit each time. It returned more than 50% each trade in 2 months. The discounted broker commission helps me keep more profit to. But again, is it possible to create a second income by trading LONG CALL stock options? Thanks
Calculate the maximum profit by investing option? An investor purchases one call option on 100 shares of a stock currently trading at $39.25. The strike price is $40 and the option premium is $3 (per share). At expiration, the stock is selling for $45 per share. Question: What is the maximum profit that the investor could have made?

What is the best online platform for trading stock options? I'm currently with sharebuilder because they didn't require a minimum... What do you think about investing in stocks as a beginner? I think the stock market can be a smart thing to experiment in even without much experience, in contrast to most advice given. My reasoning is that you can "practice" picking stocks for a very small amount of money- even under $100. You can buy just 1 stock option and though you won't make much, you won't lose much either and you'll have experience of watching the market. Sure you can argue that you can study the market without putting your money into it, but I think having something on the line- even if it is only a $20 stock option- keeps your attention and diligence. I am inexperienced with stock trading- it's been years since I've owned stock- but I'm smart, I have a financial mind, and I am a quick study. I think I want to take a few hundred dollars and spread it over a handful of well-picked stocks and watch it for a few months to see what happens. Maybe I'll make a profit, maybe I won't. But I'm not risking much. If you disagree, please explain your logic. Thank you! what do you think about zecco.com?
Any stock Tips? <---Im a student? Okay its not like im investing any real money into the stock exchange but for my Economics class we have the option to invest in stocks. Getting a job in a firm that deals with stocks, options, investing, etc? I'm interested in getting a job that involves investing and doing any type of research of companies, etc. I don't have any experience it this field simply because I was always stuck doing stuff I hate while learning about the whole stock market as a hobby on the side. Now I quit the job that I deeply dreaded and I want to go into that field because I know for a fact that I will like it. It's probably the only field that ever interested me. Now my question is, how do I get started? Every company requires experience and a license but in order to get a license you have to be sponsored (I don't understand that either) by a company. It seems like a catch 22. Does anybody here know how I can get my foot in the door at any type of investment firm? I don't want to go back to something I truly hate :( I'm young and still in school, but I know for a fact that this is the field I will be going into.

Stock Option Question? I've been investing with success for several years and I just opened an margin account with options. I'm looking into getting a small position with options but I have a few questions first. First I'm having trouble making sense of the Option symbol and strike price. For example when I research EWZ, for a given month and strike price I receive 3 different symbols; EWZ C JAN 75 WKB C JAN 75 ZYL C JAN 75 I'm guessing the different with them are their expiry dates. Is there any logical meaning behind WKB & ZYL? What the best to get find their expiry? My second question is the about the strike price. I know that one contract give you the power to buy/sell 100 shares, I just want to confirm that the strike price must be multiplied by 100 to get the per contract price. For example a contract with a strike 4$ would cost 400$ per contract? Also the reason I'm looking into options is gain leverage for long term position, not day to day trading. Is there any argument to avoid LEAP options?

I intend to invest as an options trader in the stock market. Should I buy this book? I was on my yahoo finance page, and an advertisement had caught my eye. See, I am fairly new to the stock market and investing in general. The book I intend to buy seems fairly reasonable, and honest, but I am new to this field, and basically ignorant of it. I need someone to please read this entire article and please tell me if it seems legitimate, or not. Thank you in advance for your help, and please give me a professional opinion. Thanks a lot. I appologize so much for not leaving a link. The link is http://www.virtualinvestingclub.com/lp/vic-opt-7.php?adid=RM-300
Investing? How to play the stock market? I am receiving about $2,000 from my taxes this year and rather than blowing the money, I'd like to know what options I have in terms of investing the money and perhaps turning it into a bigger lump of cash. Are stocks the way to go? I'm 25 years old and I've never delt with any kind of stock before and I have no clue how it all works. All I know is that if I invest right, I have the potential of turning this $2,000 into something big. Any help? What is wasteful about getting a large refund??

What is the tax law for options investing concerning selling for losses? I do a lot of options trading, I have some longer term options that are way down but I am sure that in the long run they will be way up....If I sell them now for tax benefits (loss), can I pick them right back up but for a different month or different strike price...that is, is each option treated as a different investment or are all options on the same stock treated as the same investment?
How efficient is the listed stock options market? And how is it possible that some options close at extremely low or negative implied volatilities? (This question doesn't really belong to the "investing" category...) Okay, I still haven't understood the mathematical model completely. But it's possible for the implied volatility to go to zero, or close consistently below average. I noticed a few in-the-money options about to expire which could be bought and exercised at a net gain, i.e. with intrinsic value slightly larger than the premium. Is this weird? Some kind of trick? Why can't the option be bought and then sold at a fairer imp. volatility?
What is the impact of joint holdings of Fixed deposits and Bank accounts etc? My wife's name was added as a joint holder of the bank account of my son when he went abroad for further studies to facilitate giving instructions to the bank. My son had earned income from Employee stock options and invested them in mutual funds instruments connected with this account. To finance his studies he slowly liquidated these funds. All transactions have taken place through the bank account. By virtue of being a joint account holder is my wife also liable for any taxes on the gains from these mutual fund instruments?

Should I buy stock or options? I am new to investing and need advice on whether I should buy stock or options. I am looking to invest in Visa (V) long-term. Which strategy would give me the best return on investment?
I am 15 and am really interested in investing in the stock market, how would I go about doing so? I know all the risks, etc. But because of my age how would I go about investing in stocks? What's the best broker? And what type of account do you need (I assume my dad or mom needs to be on my account)? I live in Canada and a lot of the stuff online is American. I have been looking at a few sites and they don't seem to have a option to open a custodial account for a minor...any help there? I have invested in Microsoft in the past through their Direct Purchase Plan, it was a complicated process (I had to buy a single share from a gift site, get it shipped, then sign up with a custodian, etc.) But I want to invest in other companies aswell.

I need some help with stock options, is it really this easy???? Ok so I'm to investing in the stock market. I bought 500 shares of etfc stock at 4.76, and it's down to 4.00. I would like to put that money into something else but still maintain control of these shares because I think they will go back to 4.76 or higher soon(with in a year). My question is this. can i sell the 500 shares and instead buy options in etfc to maintain control of the shares? If I bought 20 oct. 08 calls options at a strike price of 4.00 at .80 cents. This would cost $16 + 9.99 (commissions) + .99(20) (price per contract)= 45.79 premium cost. Right???? or is that wrong for what it will cost Than when the stock goes to 4.76, I exercise the options buying 2000 shares of etfc at 4.00 and sell Immediately at 4.76. that would give me $9520(sale of stock)-$8000(cost to buy 2000 shares)=$1520 $1520-45.79(premium cost)= $1474.21 PROFIT Is this right, is it really that easy?? Mainly I want to know if I'm right ? A $45 investment to make 1500 bucks, why not????
investing options? i am sticking my big toe in to the pond of investing and do not have a clue what are some safer options compared to stocks or mutual funds?

Should I sell my company stock options? Hello, Recently my company has been on an upswing and the stock price is trading at its highest level ever (it took over 6 long years, never thought this would happen). I have thousands of exercisable options. If I exercise the options and sell my shares tomorrow, I would see a gain of 23 dollars per share. No doubt I would be way ahead of what I started at. The problem is, I'm curious as to whether I should wait a little bit more for a possible gain in the share price. Some have told me that if I don't need the money, not to sell. My broker is worried that there really isn't anymore of an upside to the stock price. I am already well off with the stock if I sell but is it worth it to gamble and perhaps wait a little more? Will selling and investing in other mutual funds/money market end up being worth more in the long run than waiting and selling?
No-match 401k w/ stock options or an IRA? My new job offers a no-match 401k with stock options that pay out three times per year. Am I better off investing in the 401k or establishing an IRA? I'm 28 years old and make 40k/year. Thank you!
Trading Long Call stock options? Has anyone here traded LONG CALL stock options-ONLY Long Calls? And done it successfully and made a profit? I am kind of new. And have traded some long calls since the beginning of this year. 3 times i sold the long calls and made a profit. My first stock was with Scholastic Corp. -SCHL. i made a 50% profit. A month later i opened a brokerage account with Trade King they specialize in options at a discount. 2 straiaght months i sold 2 seperate options for Pfizer and made 100% profit each time. granted, i only invested a small amount each time i am happy i am learning to make a profit. I would like to do this regularly. Pfizer does not have a high volume but has worked for me so far-at least with Long Calls.
Tax on Stock Options? Lets just say I exercise my stock options in Jan or Feb. Considering I dont have to settle with the IRS till that following year, can I avoid handing over the tax $ immediately and invest that for the year to make back some of the $ I will lose from taxes?
Stock basics? I'm interested in investing in the stock market (I've got my eye on some in the technology sector in the NASDAQ -yes I know it's risky). I have some basic questions. 1. Do you have to go through a broker to buy and sell shares? 2. If so what are the advantages/disadvantages of going to online vs physical brokers? 3. How much should you typically invest in any particular company or how many shares should you buy? 4. Do you invest a set amount of money or do you buy a set number of shares at a given rate? 5. Can you pick and choose who to buy shares off (as different sellers may be asking different prices at any given time) or is this the role of the broker? 6. What is the situation regarding taxes? What taxes do you pay on stocks (if any) and how is it calculated if they are? 7. When investing in foreign markets which use different currencies, what role does currency conversion play? 8. Terminology wise (briefly) what's the difference between a stock, share and a option?
Which option is better, putting most money (Salary, every month) in Stock Market or Corporates SACCOs? A colleage of mine, about 46 years old now( I am 26 and one year old in the workplace) was given a whooping Kenya shillings 750,000 (1 US $ = Kshs. 72)as dividend by the Company SACCO(Savings and Credit Cooporative) for having saved with them. This is dividend for only one year! I felt jealous! Now my question is, Should I invest more into these saccos or put money in stock market because after a long time, like 10 - 20 years, rates also increases exponentially?
