How would you play a straddle on the Nasdaq Market without buying the put and the call on one stock symbol? Scottrade only allows one put or one call per stock symbol. Investing in the STOCK Market - Nasdaq, DOW, OTC, Pink & more question...? Theoretical Question... IF you could know the best possible stock to buy, for an over night only purchase, which market would be the most beneficial to be a part of. I have considered all, and find the OTC the most risky...with the highest gains. And If I knew what the best mathematical stock to purchase every day would be...I think I'd go with that market, As I see it as less-risky as well (since the funding is lower), and liquidity, mind you, is a part of that calculation (so you know the percentage of opportunity getting rid and getting stuck with a stock).... Also... Most Bull trends tend to be in which market? Bull trends that would double your money that is... Thanks in advance!

Sell your USA based stock shares in a foreign market? Does someone know if this will work? You own USA based(NYSE, NASDAQ,etc.) stock shares-for whatever length of time. Check out the FOREIGN stock exchange markets overnight. Make a sell decision, for your stocks, based on which exchanges are going which way, and tell your broker to SELL YOUR USA BASED STOCK SHARES IN ONE OF THOSE FOREIGN MARKETS? I saw a posting on Yahoo Answers suggesting this could be done. But i always thought that a stock share was always registered WITHIN the country of it's origin-no matter what country. The reason for this idea is to deflect losses and make profits.

What causes stock price movements? How are market or limit orders executed on an NYSE/nasdaq? What causes the bid-ask spread prices go up and down? I believe it has something to do with the Limit Order book and the order of execution? Does anyone know how orders are filled to make the bid-ask spread to change? WHat causes the specialist to hold an inventory of stocks? If the investors don't provide liquidity thru limit orders, what will happen to the bid-ask spread?

What is the ratio between stock price changes and market point changes? Every day the stock market moves by any number of points. The individual stocks move also. The move in stocks is called cents/dollars, etc. The move in the market is called points. I wondered what the ratio is between the move in money in the stock and points in the DOW/Nasdaq/S&P/NYSE, etc. So, how much money equals how many points? i.e. 1000 dollars equals 1 point in the market........what is that ratio? Thanks, k4k

stock market and the listed company, how are they connected? Can someone explain to me in the most simplest of terms the connection between the stock market, the listed company and the benefit to the company when the price goes up and down in the stock market? I understand the bit about the company listing in the stock exchange to raise more capital etc, I understand that from O' Level Commerce, but tell me more, how does it benefit the company when the price fluctuates. Say for example: Company "A" lists in the NASDAQ, and floats its shares at US$1 per share. It sells one million shares, and raises one million dollars. Then 2 weeks later the market or the Index goes up a 1000 points as a result the price of this share is now worth US$1.20 So, now in the stock market the total worth of the company is 1.2 Million dollars. The share holders obviously will make money if they sell now. But what is the benefit to the company itself. The worth of the company is simply raised up due to a trend in the market rather than as a result of some new continued: ... rather than a new invention from the company that may change the world...

Can someone please explain the correlation between credit/mortgage fears and the stock market? "Major gauges tumble on credit and mortgage market fears; Dow, Nasdaq, S&P 500 all down 10 percent off highs - reaching market correction levels." This was the headline on CNN.com today, and as a person who just bought a house 2 days ago, I would really like to understand what the experts think is happening. How are the two inter-connected, and what it the anticipated outcome of this 'credit crisis?' How does it affect me as a homeowner and as an investor?

Stock Exchange - NYSE/AMEX & NASDAQ? Hi, I am a newbie in stock exchange market and have the following questions. What's the difference between NYSE/AMEX and NASDAQ? as I know, NASDAQ is a automated system that help buy/sell stock automatic. however, what does it mean by NYSE listed or NASDAQ listed stock, isn't it we are trading the same stock no matter what system they are at? if I buy/sell a stock (e.g. FBTX - NYSE stock) over the online broker account, let's say tdameritrade, is that means I am trading over the automated system, if so, it is a NASDAQ system? kind of confuse. my second question is: I got an answer for telling whether a stock is NYSE/AMEX or NASDAQ stock base on its symbol, 1,2,3 letter - NYSE and 4 letter was NASDAQ, however, why the FBTX is a NYSE stock? please help. thanks.

How can I obtain pre-market and after hours market stock quotes without a delay? I am already aware of the stock quotes one can get from Yahoo.com, Google.com, nasdaq.com, etc. but they all have a 10 to 15 minute delay. The most important thing for me is to have the quote a close to real time as possible. I have Ameritrade and I can also make trades after hours. Ameritrade does not allow me to see quotes after hours. Does Fidelity have this feature? If I want to make a trade, I'd like to know what the current price is without the 15 minute delay.

We have an mennonite client who wants to know if he can check stock market indexes over the phone? Is there a number that has a voice ticker? Mainly for Nasdaq, but he has some allocated to S&P. He obviously cannot check it over the internet or television. The telephone is his only option, the paper doesn't give him up to date stats. I'm not a stockbroker, I'm a marketing product manager that has to deal with customer service issues at times. I could give him the quotes, but I'm not always around or available.
Before the market is open, what statistics do they use to figure out Dow and Nasdaq and S&P futures? My dad and I love the stock market, but I'm curious as to what statistics, they use to figure out the futures. Is a big part looking at other countries markets that open before our's. Do they look at the day before and analyze what the buyers and sellers are going to do?

I Need help on a stock market project for school? ok im in 11th grade and i'm researching different stocks. now im suppose to use yahoo finance for this project. our teacher says we start off with $20,000 in cash.i'm only allowed to invest into 2 companies on the stock market 1 on the NYSE and 1 on NASDAQ.im allowed to divide the $20,000 between those 2 stocks anyway i like. i also have to calculate how many shares of stock that im able to buy. then i must subtract the brokers fee. im thinking of using chevron as one of my choices. my question is if the stock market were to crash what would be some companies that would still move along without being affected. sorry if im not making much sense i'm having a hard time understanding this stock market stuff. thank you.

Why does stocks open in a strong decline after a bad news if the stock market was closed? For example, one stock closes at $30.00 on Monday, then Monday night, when Nasdaq is closed, the company releases bad news. Tuesday when the stock market opens the stock already opens at $23. A down gap. But how, if the stock market was closed? How that the Gap was created?
Stock Market Game related to actual stock market.? In economics class, we play the Stock Market Game created by University of Georgia. In the game, we start with 10k and have to invest it, but what most students do is just check http://dynamic.nasdaq.com/dynamic/afterhourma.stm for the most active after hours, buy the one that goes up the most, and sell it the second it goes up. The real stock market isnt like this is it? If it is, why isn't everyone incredibly wealthy? the site is stocksquest.coe.uga.edu The game takes a 10 dollar trade fee. It opens and closes at normal stock market times. I think the biggest difference that I can find (given, I know very little about stocks) is that the game works on a ten minute delay, I believe.
The stock market? I would like to start buying, trading , and selling some stocks but I don't know anything about the stock market. I've been to a couple of site (like eTrade and Nasdaq) but all the charts and the rising and falling in the percentages are just confusing to me. Right now I'm just so confused that I don't even know where to start looking for answers. Can somebody break it down so that I can at least understand the basics, or can someone refer me to a site or a book that can really help?

Lousy stock market performance? Yes? No? With every stock exchange in the world in the red would'nt it be better to explain this deep downturn on external forces as opposed to internal (US domestic stats)? I mean- there is not one foreign stock exchange that has not merged, or is about to merge, with larger exchanges. Example: NASDAQ/OMX, NYSE/EURONEXT and others. With US, Canada and Mexican markets so intertwined-how could you not expect their financial woprlds NOT TO EFFECT OUR HOLDINGS?
