I would like to hear only from those who have actually used the brokerage for things like spreads, straddles, condors, etc. Please explain why you think it is the best? Is it order entry, cost, reputation, support, etc.? Had E*Trade once and would not go back.

What operating system does stock trading work on best? I have noticed that Windows on my laptop operates with constant attacks and you read about viruses constantly and malware etc on Windows. There are times when software shuts down or is inaccessible. That doesn't work for trading strategies, because if you cannot respond to the market, you are done, cooked. '

How much would someone pay for a subscription to a stock trading website? I have been developing a trading strategy for the last 6 months. As of today, 11-12-08, the average winning trade percentage is 92% and of those winning trades, the average gain is 5.97% between 1-5 days. If this strategy were used over the course of a year, an individual's portfolio would more than triple. I am going to start a website in the upcoming few months to have people subscribe to my picks. I do not know what to charge. Ideas?
How Do I begin trading in the stock market? I have $100 to my name, and I'm feeling lucky. I've been practicing and learning trading strategies for the past 5 weeks on virtual trading websites where people can trade and the only thing fake about it is the money. I don't know how to go about investing to start trading and make a profit from this only $100 that I have. Do I go to a bank? Any certain website? Is there a fee? How much? Minimum number of trades? Tell anything. When and how do I pull out once I'm satisfied with my gains?

Has anyone else been taken by Income Strategies Institute? Income Strategies Institute (ISI) holds seminars on investing--stock market, real estate, & internet businesses. I attended an ISI seminar in which they offered to educate & train you to successfully trade on the stock and options markets, via seminars & other provided materials. Their speaker was very motivational & I purchased their Bronze workshop program which provided me with webinars, seminars, & materials to learn stock trading & options. This cost me to this point $ 8,015.00. I received 2 poorly written manuals (these manuals appear to contain plagerized materials--no notations or credits given to anyone & no copy right on manuals), attended 2 webinars, & two 2-day seminars on said subjects. The instructors on the webinars promised notes to be emailed to the students within a day or two. Instead, it took a week+ & seminars were worse! I found everything ISI had charged me for was available on-line or via other sources for free! ISI would not refund my money when asked!

Virtual Stock Trading? Eventually I want to do some investing (not professionally). But before I dare actually risk any real money, I've been spending a lot of time reading and educating myself about it. I've still got a good deal of learning to do, but I thought that something great might be a virtual trading arena, a simulated stock market, if you will. Are there any such tools where you can invest virtual money in a virtual market and experiment with different investing strategies? How similar is the Investopedia simulator to actual online trading with a discount broker? The more realistic the simulation is, the better I'll be able to learn.

Best Discount Broker For My Situation? Greeting Everyone! I am just getting into stock trading and have red a few books. Or actually, I am still in the process of reading a few good books. I have an idea of my stock strategy, but would like to know the best discount broker for this strategy. My strategy is basically a growth and value investing strategy. With this trading strategy I will likely buy/sell a few stocks per month. Definitely not day trading. I might buy some stocks that fit my criteria and then also buy more of that same stock when it goes down in price and still meets my criteria. I will also probably not use my broker for most of my research, but an outside source. So really I just need a broker strictly for the trading. So I am wondering what the best "bang for my buck" would be in this situation. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. Hey guys thanks for the help...........................I am actually in the U.S.
Would this option trading strategy work? So can the resident stock market guru explain to me the risks of the following strategy: Im looking at USO trading at 84.50. If i buy a put 83 strike and call with 85 strike simultaniously, it makes sense that I would profit no matter what direction the stock goes, right? And since both options are out of the money the invesment will not be great either. So is this a plausible strategy?
How can I get started with buying and trading stocks? I just want to buy a small number of stocks. I figure since I am on the internet a lot, I can keep up with them if I only have a few. I am a student and have a boyfriend and am a writer so I don't want to get completely consumed in the stock market. 1. How can I get started? 2. How much work will it take? 3. What are some good strategies? Scheisse...do I really need to spend $500 can't I do something with a budget of about $20 lol
If I sell a naked call for a premium, can I buy the stock to cover the "nakedness" should the share price rise Ok, so lets say the stock is trading at 50, and the next month 60 strike calls are selling for $1.25....if I sell/write those calls and the stock price starts to rice up towards 60 (and the premium for those calls increase) I could be liable for any amount the stock rises over $60.00, but could I just buy the stock prior to it getting to $60.00 to make it a covered call, and essentially removing any liability that could be created from upward movement? Is this a good strategy?........................ Thanks... Well, lets say the stock rises to 59.00 a share, with a week til expiration, and lets say the 60 call premium is now $2.50. Wouldn't it make sense to buy the stock at 59.00, at which point the call I sold will be covered by the stock, so if it goes to 65.00 and the calls are exercised, I can just sell my shares that I bought for $59.00, for $60.00.....hence I get to keep the premium I received from selling the call, and the only money lost would be if the stock sinks below the price I bought it for minuse the premium received.....am I thinking about this transaction correctly, is this trade allowed? Am I missing something, it seems like a no brainer....I guess the risk is if it is a volatile stock, and I don't have the opportunity to purchase prior to the stock rising above $60.00.... TD Ameritrade lets me write options, they have given me level 4 status.....I just finished "Options Made Easy" by Guy Cohen and I am ready to become an expert---hahahaha. I plan on implementing the strategy outlined in my question, I will let you know how it goes....I have already executed a couple covered calls on some of my current positions, I executed a spread trade on Google February Puts, which depending on next week will prove profitable, and I have written/sold some calls on LM, they expire Friday. As the saying goes, greater risk==greater reward, I only wish I dove into the options market sooner....don't worry I will start conservative and stick with spreads and covered calls, and WAY out of the money writing/selling...etc. Thanks for your input... All, thanks for the answers and your time, all useful answers, exactly what I was looking for...thanks for the links. How ever the best answer I am selecting I think answered the question at hand. Though Thanks For All Input.

Assume it increases by 10% a year on average and it fluctuates daily with the maximum 1%. If the starting price is $20 and the daily” change is a uniform random variable, simulate the performance of the stock price over one year using Excel. The secrets of the clever Corporate Bond Investor? I think I have a good enough understanding of what to be looking for in a corporate bond,..stable company, callable vs. non, terms, etc. What I'd like to know is if there are clever timing strategies like in the stock market. Also, what do brokers tend to charge for the transactions compared to stock trading? Other tips, hints? Thanks in advance. Yes, the bond funds aren't too attractive. I'm looking for conservative returns.. something that will be a step above money market fund returns of about 4.6%.
How to experiment with Historical data for the stock market? I am planning to start trading stocks very soon. I have a theory that I think will make me money, but I need the opportunity to test it. Ideally I would like to test my technical analysis strategy on historical data before going live. I know someone might say past performance is not a guarantee of future.. That's why I would like to try it on different stocks or different industries.

I am very eager to start an account on E-Trade or similar, and basically use the money I have now, invest it, and create more funds in this way. Before starting I would like to know what I am doing, and know what things like stocks, futures, options, bonds, and brokerage mean. If anyone could just give a brief explanation on these sorts of terms I would really appreciate it. Thanks. I know that there are some kinds of limitations and requirements to stop the manipulation of markets and so on. Thanks.

Whats the Best Stock Options Strategy to Speculate in M&A? Say there's a stock, ABC, that you think might get bought out for a hefty premium. Whats the best option strategy to employ? I am not interested in making small gains. I.e., if ABC is a $100 stock and it moves up $3, I dont want to pocket any gains. What I want is the ability to stay in the trade and hopefully participate on the big upside. I'm pretty sure theres an option strategy that will allow me to do this. Any ideas?

Has anyone done a WinInvesting share trading course? Please give your opinion.? I did the basic course earlier this year. They showed us lots of strategies but I found that there was so much information to take in in just 3 days. No further support was given once the course ended which is a real shame because I feel it's necessary particularly for people who have no experience in trading the stock market.
good trading portal for indian stock market.? i am already using icicidirect.com. i want to get one more for different type of investment strategy. below are my priorities. 1. low transaction charges 2. ease of user interface
M i selfish/free rider? June 2003, I just begun my MBA (FAST; Financial analysis and trading system) class. This is an internet based virtual market where student join for trade stock, derivative and other financial instrument. Before join the class, every student need to submit for their pre trading strategy to the teacher. I always help a female student for prepare her pre- trading strategy (which usually done by male student for female student), assignment, report preparing and even making power point slide. One day I ask her to help me about a class assignment. She reply me, I m a selfish, free rider and so on. In that moment I was too socked and cant reply/answer her comment. Still I burn her comment. Now I want to ask, really I am a free rider??? Note, she was just my classmate and I had no plan to offer/bother her for anything like love or dinner or date.
Does anyone here trade stock options? I'm looking into trading options after earnings. Right now just simple calls/puts..nothing complex, but does anyone else do this as well? what is your strategy..or at least part of it.. please IM me on aim (tradc7).
What is this options strategy? I have a specific option strategy question. A stock trades around 55. Someone does a bear put spread buying the 55 put and selling the 55 put at the same expiration. At the same time and same expiration, a 60 call is purchased and a 55 call is sold. So now we have 4 options: 1. Buy APR 55 PUT 2. Sell APR 50 PUT 3. Buy Apr 60 Call 4. Sell Apr 55 call. What is the point of this strategy?
Buying stocks after upgrades? When companies like Goldman Sachs for example issue upgrades for stocks at 6:00 am, this is good news for a company as it means firms find valuation in the stock.. and the stock rises. Executing a pre-market trade and then selling the shares by the time the market opens. I have tested this with simulators and this seems like a fantastic trading strategy. Does anyone use this? any recomendations? experienced investors, what are your views? Hey, thanks to you both for your guidance so far. As for the drawbacks you mentioned, I already have had some possible workarounds to them that I havent mentioned... perhaps this would help: a) I am aware of low volume.. I wouldnt buy more than 1000 shares at a time if they wee available, and I would unload them shortly after 9:30 when the regular market is open. b) I would buy the stock right at 7:00 am, before the stock price has the chance to climb at all. Upgrades are released on the internet at around 6:30, so I would look at them at that time and decide which to buy. c) I preferebly look for upgrades with good news attached.. ie. earnings reports. Once an upgrade was issued for AMZN but at the same time, so was a downgrade. So I stayed away from that and it indeed did fall in price. d) I also watch prices and make sure the bid/ask spread isnt greatly differentiated. Going in early for the kill before the price rises is beneficial. I view premarket prices at NASDAQ.com
How to Calculate current value of a stock based on past Volume, current Volume, and change in Price? Assumption: Trends do exist, both upward and downward. And even if you trade, a day late, knowing the trend, you can profit from it. Goal#1: If a stock is over-valued, sell it, if a stock is under-valued, buy it. Goal #2: And to do better than a BUY and HOLD strategy. (Any good stock or company should have an upward long-term trend anyway) I realize that there may be some winning/losing trades...... and certain assumptions must be made, but i am looking for a good generalization. Here are some things i think i know: Assumption#1: If High Volume, the price is realized. Assumption#2: If Low Volume, the price isnt yet realized necessarily. Other Assumptions: It costs $ to trade, this must also be factored in too (a minimum profit amount?) And assuming that you are not reacting to news items because you are the last to know about them. (but are aware of price changes and trend movements)
Trading Stocks? Suppose a company maybe bought out. The share price is say 30. The buyout will come at 40. You want to be call option in January cause the merger will be done in the fall. You buy 30 contracts or the right to 3000 shares? Then strike the options after the merger is announced. So you strike the options at 10 per share profit aka 30 grand right? Isnt the best way to play a takeover stratgey? Obiosuly minus the cost to buy the options say roughly around 3000 for the calls. And lets assume I have heard something. I just am not sure the right way to plus the strategy out rightly.
Are there any good software for options trading in nse? Futures and options are derivative items of any stock market.
