Where would we go to do simple stock investing? I'm interested in investing a miniscule amount of money (around $1000) in the stock market just to get my feet wet. I'm in no way looking to make some huge profit or anything of the sort...just wanting to throw some cash out there, buy and sell a few stocks and just get a feel for things. What is a good website to do that sort of thing through? With such a small amount I obviously want to keep fees to a minimum so my money doesn't get wasted on that junk.
Are there any sites that allow you to learn stock investing? such as allowing you to learn by investing and tracking but not actually doing so or putting up any money? i won't some practice and learning before I actually do invest with my own real money? When I was in high school we played a stock market game and I was wondering if there is anything like that without being in a program such as in high school econ class.

Does religion deserve the same type of consideration as stock investing does? Before I invest in a stock, I will do as much research as possible before diving in. I read the company's prospectus, but I will also gather information from various third parties to gain an objective point of view. I will study its performance history, and also ask around to see if there is anyone I know who has invested in the stock, or knows someone who has to learn their experience with it. To blindly invest my money into any stock -- regardless of what others say about it -- would be foolish to me. Doesn't religion deserve the same sort of scrutiny before one "invests" in it?
What is the better investing & stock trade newsletter now? I'm considering subscribing to Wall Street Journal for its stock index listing and current investing information. Since I'm a libertarian with liberal streak, I don't like partisanship and politiking in the newspaper that's supposed to focus on finance and money market, I might not waste the money on the newspaper known for its rabid right-wing bias (editorial in particular) when it comes to history and current events, etc. Are there good alternatives (bias or not) to Wall Street Journal on reliable, informed articles without heavy political bullshit like Time, Newsweek & USA Today are known for? Should I just ignore the strident political bias in that paper and turn to stock index pages?
Is stock investing just gambling? The news media and who has first dibs on the reports are going to take advatage of it, it is called insider trading. This business about Martha Steward I think was hilarious joke, many many people are guilty of insider trading. And what about pump and dump schemes like Jim Cramer? That is what "news " in business and about companied really is. Just pump and run the other way? House takes in much more than it gives out in the end. I wonder how many people who invest in stocks really know that , but they are addicted to the idea that everybody else will lose while they get "lucky" ??
Investing Question w/ Stock Market? I am in high school and I currently have saved ~ 7000 dollars. For years, I have had CD accounts with APYs around 4%. I learned in my personal finance class that returns/year in the stock market over the past 70-some years have average 10%/year, which is much better than CDs, especially once I have to renew mine later this year with CD rates in my area below 3%. I was looking at maybe investing some of my money into the stock market, but I am unsure how much I should invest; 5%, 10%, 20%, 50%, etc, I have no idea how much I should aim to invest given the economy's present state. In addition, I don't have a clue which stocks to invest in. What stocks do you predict will have good returns that are better than my CD rate of 4%...and what stocks do you think have a good chance of doing well in the long run, like from now to 2020 or 2030?

Buying stock and investing? Hi, I want to start investing but I really don't know where to start. I like the idea of buying stock and have a decent amount of information on how it works (basically buy a growing co. then sell when you feel the time is right). I don't even know where to start really, what site to use, how to even do it. I would greatly appreciate if one can go through the steps with me and give me some tips that I can use to help me as a beginner.
HELP!! I feel dumb... tell me about the stock market & investing!! =[? OK... so my mom is getting really into the stock market and investing... and i'm realizing i have no idea what she's talking about. What do you think of my mid-caps stock investing strategy? I have been watching the stock market for months and done my research, but I am only 18 and don't understand enough about inner-company economics and finances to make good decisions based on that (I will be a finance and management major, though, so maybe at a later time). On the other hand, I am great at technical analysis. I figure since mid-caps better returns than large caps, and are not as risky as small and nano caps, I fill focus on them (I just set up my Roth IRA). My plan is to research and use my technical analysis tools and indicators (I know they are not extremely effective, but I only need to be right maybe 70% of the time for it to be worthwhile), and stick to mid-caps that are listed on the S&P 500. I figure that these hand-chosen mid-caps have the best finance records, industries, and since they are hand chosen by experts, they should increase my rates of return. What do you think? Thanks!
Boeing Stock student investing? I just invested $500 on Boeing stock and I have no Idea of how the stock market really works. I'm a student majoring in engineering and had $500 dollars sitting around so I went online and setup an account so that $500 will be deposited into Household Bank ShareBuilder account then into boeing stock. My question is how will i make money or what do i look for to find out if im making anything or losing anything. I looked at the 5year term for boeing and trend looked good but i dont know how that will affect my $500. I was kind of bored and decided to invest some money with really no direction but i figured if i get my hands in the pie i will understand the stock market better then just having to read books all day. Now im really interested since its my money at stake. Any help I would gladly appreciate it. Thankyou
Stock Market Investing For A Motivated 15 year Old? Im currently 15, and I'm damn tired of waiting to get through high school and college to start making some serious money. I am a very motivated, smart teenager[4.0 with honors classes] and I believe that through some light research I have done, that the stock market is the way to go. I was reading about mutual funds and all this different stuff, but i figured why not probe Yahoo Answers for some info. What is the best way to get some money fast using the Stock market? What to invest in, what to trade, what broker to use, etc. A jump start in the right direction is really what I need here, as i jsut got some money and I am dying to invest it. I was hoping to get 1 mil in a couple years and eventually check out some hedge funds. Any help is appreciated. Ok maybe a million in a few years is just a hyperbole, just trying to convey the motivation. haha

Income from investing in Stock Options? Are there any investors who invest in stock options that have created an extra income for themselves? There is a difference between INVESTING and Working for a Living (paycheck). I have been investing in LONG CALL optrions recently. Opened an account with a deep discount brokerage-only $5.00 per trade.. I found one stock-an ETF INDEX option that seems to be working in my favor. Since most foreig market INDEXES seem to move in an upward trend i feel comfortalbe with it. It is the iShares MSCDI CANADA ETF. I have bought and sold it 2 times at a profit each time. It returned more than 50% each trade in 2 months. The discounted broker commission helps me keep more profit to. But again, is it possible to create a second income by trading LONG CALL stock options? Thanks

Stock Market CDs questions..I recently posted a question about investing 1000 dollars in a stock market cd? that can garantee no loss in your starting investment and will most likely give you a higher interest rate than a regular cd account. From the answers I got they all said there was no such thing. But I came across this article when going threw some investing sites. "Stock Market CDs pay interest based upon the gain in a related stock market index. These unique CDs permit investors to capture the upside possibilities of the market index but avoid the down-side risk. In other words, you can "play the market" but not worry about losing your starting investment because the deposit is FDIC insured and you are guaranteed to get back your original investment. Early withdrawals may be permitted and these CDs can be sold or can be redeemed fully upon the death of an owner or co-owner. CDs sold prior to maturity or withdrawn early are subject to market conditions and could result in a loss." So what do you guys think about that?
Recommendations for stock / investing websites? Hi all, I'm looking for some specific websites that discuss stocks and give opinions. I'd preferably like something free, but would be willing to pay if its worth the price. The guidelines I'm looking at are a good track record, good overall knowledge of the market and its metrics, and credible sources. Can anyone recommend one or a list of sites? (please list how much the site costs if its a pay site) Thanks in advance.
In stock investing what does the term points mean? Does points mean dollars? (i.e. When they say that the Dow is down 25 points, does that mean 25 dollars?) LOLZ, it is very peculiar that you insult my intelligence while not using proper grammar in responding to my question. Which one of us needs to grow some ******* common sense?
Does stock investing software work? I hear a lot of TV and radio ads about different seminars which lead to buying software. Do any of these programs work or able to teach u anything? If so, which ones. Thanks
