Exactly how you make money in the stock market? I get that you buy stocks and the stocks go up or down every day, but why do people leave money in it for longer than a year? If the stock market goes up and down, wouldn't you want to take your money out when it is really high? I don't get why some people would leave money in the stocket market even when it is at a high selling price. Or does the stock market go up and down all the time, but in the end always goes up in price, like anually or something? I know this sort of sounds i little complicated, but its the best i could word it... also...about how much do you get from dividends and are there any safe investment stocks [aka "blue chip" stocksi think they are called] (you dont have to name any if you dont know any, im just wondering) that pay about 5% interest, maybe more?

Making money in the Stock Market...? My husband has been reading A LOT about the stock market lately. He has $25,000.00 in savings. He does not want to start with much. Maybe 1,000.00...He'll deposit whatever he has to though, to start...just only use 1,000.00 in the beginning. I would consider him very tech-savvy, business oriented, and quite intelligent. Realistically, what would be the best way, for him to do this professionally, starting at 1-5 thousand dollars, and be able to turn 60-100 thousand a year? I do realize the risks, already. I do realize the scams of the books...ect. I'm not looking to receive discouraging comments, only honest opinions, one way or the other. Have any of you made 60-100k a year working only with 1-5k in the beginning? Thanks in advance, your comments are truly appreciated!

Can I make money, day trading on the stock market? I am a teenager about to graduate high school. I am very interested in the medical field but don't know if I am smart enough to join in on it. My dad is in the stock market and is the day trading type. He gets a hold of a Forbes recommended stock every month and then sells and makes a little "side money" which I know means quite a bit of money to a teenager at least. But what I really want to know is if he teaches me how to use all the tools with Fidelity, and assuming he gives me a substantial amount of money in the fidelity account, can I become a long term stock holder and not even have to go to college to make a very good annual income? What's the likelihood of this? Please help. Ten points for the best answer. Professionals only please. Revised: Can I make a substantial annual income day trading or holding a stock for long periods? My dad has over $500,000.00 in the stock market if this is important.
What is the best way to make money on the stocks & shares market? This may have been asked before but I have recently started on the stock market and am making about 4% a week on an investment of £1300. I have though made some initial mistakes and COULD have made about 8%. I basically see the stock market in two ways: Either you chase hot stocks with a 3 day turnover? I reckon you could get 5-8% every 3 days. Or find a company and invest for the long term (12 months) in which some companies (Jsainsbury) has increased 78% over this time and buy when they have either good or bad news.
